Solution Focused Therapy
SFT in EDMONTON
About Solution Focused Therapy (SFT):
Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) is an evidence-based, future-focused, and goal-directed therapeutic approach. It focuses on helping us build solutions to present situations, rather than placing focus on past problems. SFT is a hopeful, positive channel for formulating, motivating, achieving, and sustaining our desired behavioural changes.
Through SFT, we create a clear vision of what our lives would be like if our current situation were to improve. Then we identify and explore times in our lives where we have coped well or have addressed our challenges successfully. Often, we come to find these “exceptions” through an interview-style process. Knowing that we have the skills and strengths needed to successfully cope with challenges helps to collaboratively create goals that accurately reflect our best hopes. SFT helps us to develop solutions to our problems.
By working with an Edmonton-based SFT therapist, you will collaboratively develop a plan for your future and then determine what skills, resources, and abilities you may need to successfully meet your goals.
