Meet Parishi Taya

B.A., MASTERS LEVEL COUNSELLING INTERN THERAPIST, EMDR Therapist

Hello! My name is Parishi and I am a Master’s Level Counselling Intern Therapist at Solace Psychology & Wellness. I am currently completing my Master of Counselling Degree from City University of Seattle (Edmonton Campus) and have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology Degree from the University of Alberta. For the past 5 years, I have had the privilege of working primarily with children and adults, helping them face various challenges.

Clinical Overview

I am passionate about providing evidence-based therapeutic support to children and parents. Common concerns that I help children with are emotional regulation, behavioural regulation, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), anxiety/worry, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and school struggles. When working with younger clients I integrate evidence-based interventions from Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness combined with elements of Play, Sandtray, and Art Therapy techniques. This blended approach ensures engaging, developmentally appropriate, and effective therapeutic support. Additionally, I value collaborating closely with parents and guardians to enhance the effectiveness of interventions and support clients’ growth.

I am dedicated to fostering a collaborative and supportive therapeutic relationship, valuing the unique perspectives, strengths, and values of each client. By creating a safe and non-judgmental environment, I aim to help individuals feel heard, understood, and empowered. I strive to understand and honor each person’s unique experiences, working together to uncover your personal strengths and promote positive change.

My primary goal in session is to create a compassionate, supportive, and empathetic environment where individuals can explore their experiences, overcome obstacles, and achieve personal growth. My approach to therapy is Person-Centered where I tailor my methods to fit each individual’s unique needs. My therapeutic practice is integrative, drawing from a range of modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness practices, and Compassion-Focused Therapy.

I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to support you on your path to personal growth and self-discovery. Whether you’re facing  anxiety, depression, career difficulties, life transitions, or other challenges, I am here to offer compassionate and personalized guidance.

Born in India and raised in Canada, I bring a deep understanding of multicultural identity and its intersection with mental health. My lived experience informs my counselling approach, fostering empathy and cultural awareness in every session. To reduce barriers to therapy, I offer services in both English and Hindi, ensuring clients feel understood and supported in their preferred language.

Outside of work, you’ll find me taking a nap, trying new workout classes with my mom (Barre, lifting, and Zumba are current favourites!), or spending time with my large family. I’m also passionate about traveling and discovering local hidden gems or immersing myself in new cultures.
