Mindfulness-Based Therapy

MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION in EDMONTON

About Mindfulness-Based Therapy:

At Solace Psychology, South Edmonton, our Therapists weave mindfulness-based practices throughout their sessions, based on your therapeutic goals. We also provide meditation sessions to help quiet and reset your mind and body.

With so much going on in today’s busy world, we often don’t take time to slow down and recharge, or focus on how we are actually doing. Mindfulness-based practice allows you to switch off auto-pilot mode and become aware of the present moment.

Mindfulness stems from Buddhist practice and issupported by an array of recent neuroscience research. Studies show that regular practice results in a reduction of anxiety and stress, physical pain, depressive symptoms, and improvements in creativity, attention, memory, and feelings of peace and calmness (Davis & Hayes, 2012). Mindfulness practice can even change your brain so it becomes less reactive to stressors and so you can recover from stressors when they do come your way (Taren et al., 2015). Having a calmer nervous system is so important for overall functioning, and can greatly aid with recovery of mental illness.

Restore your balance.

Guided Meditation in Edmonton

Restore, Recharge & Renew

Our therapy team offers short, guided meditation practices in which you follow your Psychologist's voice as you are guided to tune in to your emotions and internal well-being. There are specific meditation practices to ease anxiety and stress, depression, low self-esteem and self-doubt, parenting struggles, and self-judgment and criticism.

As you allow yourself space to let go of daily stressors, you can become anchored in the present moment. This brings you to a place of being grounded, calm, and at peace. The more you practice guided meditation, the more you'll reap the benefits of experiencing self-compassion, kindness, and self-love.

Take control of your emotions, quiet the mind, and achieve a sense of clarity and self-connection.
