MEET HALEY
Haley Burchett, B.A., M.A. (in completion)
Master's Level Counselling Intern in Edmonton

Hello! My name is Haley and I am a Master's Level Counselling Intern currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University. Prior to this, I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology through MacEwan University. After completing my Bachelor’s degree, I worked as an Addictions Counsellor and gained some valuable experience working with vulnerable populations. I also gained additional experience supporting high-risk individuals working for a suicide helpline.Â
Therapy for Children, Teens, Adults & Couples
I am interested in working with children, teens, adults, and couples. I enjoy helping clients cope with a variety of mental disorders, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, borderline personality disorder, substance use disorder and other addictions, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I am also interested in helping clients learn to cope with challenges involving grief and loss, self-esteem, relationship conflicts, body image, stress, and anger.Â
I am driven by values of empathy, compassion, respect, acceptance, curiosity, and patience. We will engage collaboratively to set goals and identify strategies that work best for you. I am still learning and appreciate any opportunity to grow professionally, therefore, I want to hear about your experience and make any necessary adjustments along the way to ensure you are getting the most out of it. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach — what works for some might not work for you, and that is okay! My process will involve exploring various aspects of your life, as I believe true happiness and wellness are achieved through a balance of physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health. During this process, I will draw from a variety of different therapeutic approaches, using evidence-based strategies and interventions that are a good fit for your unique situation. This will include drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
This journey to wellness can be very challenging, scary, and even frustrating at times, but I want you to know that you are not alone in this process. Ever since I was young, it has been my dream to grow into a career where I can help people. I am so happy and thankful to be here!
