EMDR THERAPIST

FOUNDER & CLINICAL DIRECTOR

My practice is grounded in respect, integrity, and genuine care for my clients. I have been working in the mental health industry for over a decade with childrenteens, and adults who are struggling with anxiety, stress, depressionaddiction, ADHD, life transitions, boundaries, trauma-related symptoms and other mental health concerns. Supporting parents and guardians with effective parenting strategies is a passion of mine. I also enjoy working with professionals and businesses in the realm of coping with work-related stressors, preparing to return to work and acquiring work/life balance.

I believe in utilizing an integrative approach to therapy as everyone’s life story is different. We will work together to develop effective goals to work towards and I will draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Positive Psychology, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), among others. I strive to help people achieve overall life balance, in all 8 aspects of well-being.

In addition to therapy, I provide clinical supervision to Counselling Interns in the community.

DANIELLE CHARRON

B.A., M.C., REGISTERED PSYCHOLOGIST

I enjoy counselling youth as well as adults. When working with adults, I offer a supportive space to process your stressors and learn effective skills to reach your therapeutic goals. A large portion of my work involves helping individuals cope with work stress, anxiety, OCD, negative thinking patterns, and life changes.

In addition to helping adults, I am dedicated to providing mental health counselling to children, adolescents, and parents. I have worked with clients around issues like ADHD, anxiety, depression, oppositional or defiant behaviours, anger, emotional regulation, body image, self-esteem, and parent-child relationship issues.

I approach therapy with curiosity, collaboration, and compassion. I believe in providing integrated and evidence-based therapy, drawing upon Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFT), Parent Management Training, mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).  I will also be offering psycho-educational assessments in the near future.

In my eyes, the client is the expert; my role is to help the client identify their own unique strengths and resources, in a non-judgmental manner. NICOLE KWAN

INTAKE COORDINATOR

Hello! My name is Nicole Kwan, and I’m currently attending Grant MacEwan University. I am pursuing my Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. Growing up, I was always the go-to when my friends had problems, and I’d always be the one to lend a listening ear. Now I hope to make a life-long career out of my listening ears. I am passionate about helping others fall in love with therapy because therapy has changed my life. I’ve learned so much about myself, like that I’m a highly sensitive person. Clearly, I am very vocal about my love for therapy and will go on about it for hours to anyone willing to listen. For a bit of insight into my personality, my Myer-Briggs type is INFJ: the advocate.

I was awarded “Biggest Dog Lover” in school, and nothing has changed since then. Except, I finally got the most wonderful dog named Lucky! We love to explore Edmonton and see everything this wonderful city has to offer. By far, our most favourite place to walk is Buena Vista Dog Park; the view of the river is stunning. When I’m not with my pup, I am at the gym or trying out a trendy new restaurant.

SARA MONCION

INTAKE COORDINATOR

Hello, I am Sara!  I am a 4th year Bachelors of Arts (Honours) Psychology student at the University of Alberta. As part of the Honours program, I have developed a lot of knowledge in how to conduct research, time management and critical thinking. I have plans of pursuing a career in counselling psychology and I plan on attending the counselling psychology program at the University of Alberta next fall. I am very passionate about psychology and some of my favorite areas are: child psychology, counseling psychology and psycholinguistics. My favorite class in university was abnormal psychology, as we talked about the different personality disorders, mental health issues and the importance of addressing them and asking for help. I am fluent in Spanish and English, and am currently researching the best methods for children to maintain fluency in second languages.

If I am not on campus studying or working, I like to watch movies and go for walks with my dogs. I also love spending time with my family playing board games.

It is amazing to see the tremendous growth in children and adults as they discover their full potential and begin to believe in themselves again. - Vanessa Goodchild
