Meet Camryn Andersen
B.Sc., MASTER'S LEVEL COUNSELLING INTERN THERAPIST
Hi there! My name is Camryn. I am a Master’s Level Student Intern Therapist and I am currently completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I also hold a Bachelor of Science degree, completed at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton. My lived experience and education have shaped me into a clinician who is grounded in a person-centred approach and genuine empathy. I value the unique experiences each person brings and how these experiences shape our perspectives and interactions. I pride myself on developing rapport based on collaboration and connection, with a focus on curiosity. The populations I provide support to are children and adults.
Clinical Overview
Therapy for Children & Parents
I focus on providing children (aged 7 years and older) with a welcoming and safe environment in which to explore their challenges on their journey. A foundation in my approach is being judgment-free and coming from a place of understanding and genuine regard for all challenges. I provide support in developing coping skills, emotional regulation, social skills, and confidence-building. I utilize approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Experiential Therapy, mixed with elements of play and art, tailoring each approach to the specific needs of each child. I prioritize creating a space that fosters continuous learning and care. The integration of caregiver and parent collaboration is essential for the support I provide and allows a deeper understanding of each child’s unique challenges.
Therapy for Adults
When working with adults, I prioritize my clients’ feelings of being heard and understood in their challenges. I explore the challenges that each client brings and offer an approach grounded in empathy, validation, and collaboration. I explore thoughts, behaviours and feelings to find an approach that aligns with my clients’ goals and strengths. I am here to offer support, navigate challenges and successes together.
I incorporate evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Person-Centred Therapy (PCT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) to support adults in addressing challenges, including anxiety, stress, work-life balance issues, relationship concerns, and other mental health concerns.

A Bit About Me
I am a person who thoroughly loves the outdoors, especially in the summer. I enjoy the relaxation nature offers and the serene escape from the busy city life. When I am not studying or working, I am usually outside enjoying the snow or the sand, depending on the season. When I am able to take a break from life’s demands, I appreciate sitting down with a good book or indulging in a movie with my partner.
